Learning abounds in the Hedgehog room! This room serves children 19-27 months, and focuses on teaching independent skills. When the children are ready, teachers work with them on single words and then sentences for expression and improving social interactions.
The Hedgehogs love to play with the large variety of toys that are in the room, including blocks and kitchen sets. They also love to go outside and are working on gross motor skills while playing with the push toys, climbing equipment, and swings. When the weather is nice, they go outside twice a day.
One of the favorite activities in the Hedgehog room is singing songs. Prior to lunch each day, everyone gathers on the carpet to read stories and sing songs. Some of their favorites include 'The Alphabet Song,' and 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.' They also enjoy listening to books and doing sensory activities. Our Hedgehogs are not afraid to get their hands dirty!
